England did not have a coach now, after Fabio Capelli resigned on February 8. Some names are favorites to replace him. Coaches are the most frequently mentioned is Harry Redknapp. However, according to Keane, Pearce is more appropriate.
According to Keane, Pearce was well familiar with the England team. Because, he was an assistant Capello. In addition, Pearce had successfully brought the England U-21 to enter the European Cup final at the 2009 U-21.
"Pearce has long been involved in the senior England squad and had to refine U-21 national team. I have ever played with him and he is a good man. I think he will be the ideal coach to lead," said Keane.
Keane and Pearce had played together in Notthingham Forest. However, Keane moved to Manchester United in 1993.

"When I defended the Irish national team, he captained England. He became the best player every day in practice. He refused to act. He also was obsessed with the media, money, or cars," he explained.
