A Perfect Night for the Special One

Real_madrid_Jose_Mourinho, road to euro poland Ukraine 2012
The players were fantastic, entertained people and had fun themselves. I don't understand the two goals we conceded in the final minutes. They may have been because of the fatigue of those who are not playing much or the pride of Dinamo Zagreb. Sometimes you have to concede goals and it is much better if you concede when you have scored six and not in knockout rounds. I'm sorry for Antonio Adán, who conceded two goals in a game where he has done nothing wrong.

Marseille Postpones Arsenal Step to Big 16

Arsenal FC missed their chance to book a place in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 as the Group F leaders were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Olympique de Marseille.
Two weeks after Arsenal grabbed a last-gasp 1-0 win at the Stade Vélodrome, Marseille showed real attacking flair in the first half and defended in sufficient numbers during the second to thwart the hosts' hopes of a repeat. Arsenal struggled to create clear-cut chances, though what they did fashion never looked like beating Steve Mandanda, on superb form between the posts.

Wenger's Arsenal stifled by Marseille

Arsène Wenger, Arsenal managerWe defended very well and tried very hard but lacked the quality in the final third to finish off our chances. We had a few in the first half. Aaron Ramsey had two and Robin van Persie in the second half as well. Overall it was a very difficult game. Marseille were physically very impressive and closed us down at every opportunity. We lacked match sharpness after our performance at Chelsea on Saturday.
Leaving Robin on the bench was a gamble that did not come off, but he was very tired after Saturday's efforts. I took the gamble to rest him although he had the chance to score when he came on, which would have been the perfect play. Now we want to win the Dortmund game at home, but overall we are in a good position. It was also important that we kept a clean sheet tonight.

Guardiola praises magnificent Messi

Pavel Vrba, Viktoria Plzeň coachTwo incidents decided the game. Milan Petržela had a clear chance early on that he didn't take, and then we had the penalty and red card. We wasted the chance before the opening goal but we're not used to coming under such pressure from a team like this in the Czech league. I don't think it's clear who will get third place after BATE Borisov's draw with Milan. We also have to play Milan at home and still have a chance to reach the Europa League.

Based on the game I have to say we are happy with the result. It often got a bit hairy near our goal – look at the Robinho chance, when he hit the post. However we had some good chances after the break. The team we had on the pitch today, they played aggressively without thinking they were playing against a top club. I think our commitment and desire deserved, and finally brought us, this draw.
